This plan has been devised by the English Department of the London Nautical School to ensure that key summative assessments are evaluated with the greatest possible accuracy and rigour.

WRITING:

  1. Year 7: Autobiographical Writing:

  2. -Synchronisation of our assessment of the students’ initial pieces, underscoring a baseline


READING:

  1. Year 8: Close Reading of Poetic Texts:

  2. -Assessed in the context of a close reading test developed and administered by the teaching team


TERM 3:   


WRITING:

  1. Year 9: Comparative Analysis Essay:

  2. -Topic to be determined by individual teachers and classes and to arise from their topics of learning


SPEAKING AND LISTENING:

  1. All Key Stage Three: Speaking Competition, Debate and Festival:

  2. -Public event where students oratory will be performed in front of their peers and families. Our assessment will underscore the gravity of the event.
